Industry Application

Rubber Seals and Moulded Parts for Automotive and Vehicle Parts

Vehicle circuits punish general purpose rubber. Fuel, engine oil, power steering fluid, coolant and brake systems each attack a different weakness, and a seal chosen on price alone usually fails on one of them.

The Problem

Industry Pain Points

  • Oil and fuel contact that hardens or swells a seal chosen without regard to the medium
  • Cold medium sealing in power steering pipes and pumps where the compound has to stay flexible
  • Suspension bushings that wear out early and take the whole damper assembly with them
  • Rubber to metal parts bought from separate machine shops and moulders with no single owner of the bond
  • Seal schedules that mix NBR, HNBR, FKM and EPDM across one vehicle programme
The Requirement

What Buyers Here Need

  • Compounds selected against the actual fluid and temperature, not against a stock list
  • One supplier able to cover the whole mixed material schedule
  • Bushings and anti vibration parts where the metal and the rubber come from the same factory
  • Repeatable cross sections batch after batch
In Service

Typical Application Scenarios

  • Automotive oil seals and power steering pipe seals in HNBR for cold medium service
  • Fuel system and high temperature engine seals in FKM and FFKM
  • Brake and coolant circuit seals in EPDM
  • Shock absorber bushings and shocker bushes with rubber moulded onto machined metal
  • General oil resistant static and dynamic seals in NBR
What You Get

Delivery Capability

  • Mixed material schedules quoted on one purchase order
  • Standard AS568 sizes without a tooling step
  • Metal parts machined and rubber bonded in house for bushing type parts
How It Runs

From Inquiry to Series Release

  1. Send the drawing, the fluid and the working and peak temperature

  2. Our formula engineers propose compounds and explain the trade offs

  3. Tooling from the AS568 set where the size is standard, or a new tool from our mould workshop

  4. First article moulded and checked before series release

Answers

Automotive and Vehicle Parts Questions

Which compound should I use for power steering and cold medium seals?

HNBR is what we use most for cold medium sealing, including power steering pipes and automotive oil seals. Send the fluid and temperature range and we will confirm.

Can you supply bushings with the metal insert included?

Yes. We have our own machining workshop and coating workshop, so we machine the metal part and mould the rubber onto it rather than buying in a half finished part.

Can one order cover several different compounds?

Yes. Twelve compounds are available from us, and consolidating a mixed schedule is the usual reason automotive buyers come to us.

Do you work to a customer drawing or to your own catalogue?

To your drawing. Where the size happens to be a standard AS568 size we can also use the existing mould and skip tooling.
